A self-hosted addon for Nuvio and Stremio. It scans media folders in place, adds metadata and streams the original files with seeking.

01 / THE BRIEF

The brief

Watch your own files in Nuvio or Stremio without moving, renaming or transcoding them, and without exposing them to the internet.

02 / HOW IT WORKS

How it works

The scanner detects movies, series, multi-episode files, specials and season folders, works incrementally and watches for changes. Metadata comes from TMDB when configured, with Cinemeta and local fallbacks so it works without setup. Four searchable catalogs cover movies, series and recently added items.

03 / KEY DECISIONS

Key decisions

Media is never transcoded or written to; Docker mounts libraries read-only on a read-only root filesystem. Streams use byte ranges and signed links. Management sits behind a password-protected dashboard, and the README warns against public exposure without an authenticated network layer.

04 / THE RESULT

The result

Released as a Windows installer and a Docker image that also runs on CasaOS and ZimaOS. Version 1.1.1 fixes Windows first-run startup and adds regression tests.

Credits & licences

Works with Nuvio and Stremio through the addon manifest; I did not build those players. MIT licensed. Dashboard images use synthetic test files, not a real library.
